3 Ways To Help Protect Your Child From Porn

It is incredibly easy to find just about anything you want online. It's also really easy to find things you don't want to find or don't want your kids to find. That includes things like pornography. If you are worried about your child finding pornography, there are things that you can do to help protect your child from seeing it.

Keep Computers Public

One thing you can do is make sure that all computers or Internet-enabled devices stay as public as possible. It's hard to watch porn if your mom and dad are sitting right next to you. If they keep their devices out in a public room, you will be able to monitor them better. You will also be able to do things like limit their screen time. If your teen isn't taking their phone or tablet into their bedroom, not only will they not have privacy to look at porn, it can also help them sleep better.

Use Filtering Options

There are all kinds of filtering options, like Lifeline, that you can use that will help to block out pornography. Most browsers have a safe browsing option that will block out particular keywords, sites, and images. When that is turned on, it can help to keep your child from finding those things accidentally. Most of those options have various levels of security, so you can choose one that fits best for you and your family. Some devices also have safe browsing options that you can use. If you want to be extra safe, you can also install filtering software and apps. Those apps and software options will give you more control over what your child is able see.

Check Their History

You can also make sure that you check your child's history on their computers and other devices. If you check it frequently, then you will know what they are looking at when you aren't around to track their surfing. You should also make sure that not only do you check their history but that you also have their account names and passwords on any device that your child will regularly use. That will make it easier for you to check their history,

You do everything you can to make sure that your child is safe from as many things as possible. You also want to make sure that they aren't exposed to pornography, especially when they are still young.

About Me

parental counseling to create a positive relationship

Growing up, I thought that our family was typical, but as I grew to be an adult and had a family of my own, I questioned a few of the things that my family had done growing up. As I struggled with my toddlers, I questioned my mother's version of correction. How do you get through to a toddler that what he or she is doing just isn't appropriate behavior? Where do you draw the line? Parental counseling helped me find my own style of parenting and taught me a lot of effective methods for correcting young children and creating a relationship that I am proud of.
